5EW at Leopold PS

Last Friday, students in 5EW had a go at using chopsticks!!! It was an entertaining display of skill and strategy to see everyone having a go at picking up the pompoms with the tricky pieces of bamboo. Some people had never tried chopsticks before and it was wonderful to see students help each other.

Last week, 5EW spent time travelling around Indonesia, learning about the food, landscape, currency and more. This week, we continue on our tour to Japan. We begin by learning some of the facts of the country and continue on during the week to discuss culture, language and pandas!

As part of our theme this term, Grade 5 students will be taking part in a Magical Mystery Tour, travelling around six countries that are part of the continent of Asia.
We are leaving for our tour on Monday, 19th October, on a flight to Denpasar. We will travel around the islands of Indonesia, then to Japan, China, Vietnam, India and Saudi Arabia before returning home in time for the end of term!

Miss Willett was away during most of the last week of Term 3, so 5EW had to wait all holidays to do their oral presentations on the Body Systems. They finally got to present them today and all did a fantastic job! Below are photos of the seven different groups and the models they created at school. Well done 5EW!!!

Over the school holidays, L.P.S. was lucky enough to get new artificial grass laid in the courtyard. It looks fantastic and provides a clean, comfortable area for kids to sit, play, chat and learn all year round!

Term 4 is here and there’s so much to look forward to! Our theme in Grade 5 and 6 is ‘Where In The World’ and the Grade 5 students will be focussing on Asian countries. In Maths, we are learning about decimals, fractions and percentages. We’ll be getting into Electives for the first time, heading to the Blue Light Disco and finishing it all off with ADVENTURE PARK!!!!! Have a wonderful Term 4!!!

This morning we’ve been looking at the blog that S7 at Surfside Primary School have and been getting inspired! They have some great photos, videos, survey polls and discussions on their blog. Miss Willett is getting motivated to add some more exciting stuff…keep a look out in Term 4!
